Join our structured, coach-led canicross training and community for active dog owners in Norfolk.
Whether you’re new to canicross, working towards race goals, or just seeking structured community trail runs, as an active dog owner, you don’t have to train alone.
We coach properly with coach-led canicross sessions - and we train side by side.
Each session blends structured guidance with real-time experience on the trails. You and your dog build safe foundations first - clear cues, steady pacing, confidence in the harness, and an understanding of how to move well together - then grow from there.
Some come to start.
Some come to improve.
Some come to compete.
All come to connect.
Here you’ll find:
• Coach-led training sessions
• Gradual, safe progression for you and your dog
• Community run groups
• Skill-building for pace, focus, and endurance
• Guidance if you’d like to work towards events
• A welcoming group that celebrates every step forward
Alongside regular sessions and community runs, we’re also building a wider support network - collaborating with local partners and health professionals who understand the physical and mental benefits of structured, dog-led running.
From tailored Norfolk dog training support for specific audiences to responsible progression that prioritizes dog welfare, everything we do is designed to be sustainable, safe, and genuinely beneficial for both of you.
We celebrate the fun side - muddy paws, cold morning air, that rhythm when you and your dog move as one.
And we support the ambitious side too - refining technique, building strength, and preparing for race day if that’s your goal.
Because canicross isn’t just about running.
It’s about confidence. Connection. Belonging.
Every session has structure. Every session has purpose. And every session builds connection for active dog owners.
We offer different ways to train and run together - depending on where you are in your journey.
**Structured Coaching Sessions**
These are focused, skill-based sessions where we build strong foundations and confident partnerships for you and your dog.
We cover:
• Harness fit and safe pulling technique
• Clear start and control cues
• Steady pacing and rhythm
• Gradual, safe progression for both of you
• Dog welfare and movement awareness
You leave knowing what you practiced - and why.
**Community Trail Runs**
These organized group runs bring everything together for active dog owners in Norfolk dog training. They’re welcoming, inclusive, and supportive - whether you’re building confidence or simply wanting steady miles with like-minded people.
We run with purpose and responsibility. All routes are planned in advance, risk assessed, and suited to the level of the group. We seek landowner permission where required and ensure terrain is appropriate for both dog and runner capability.
Different paces are supported. No one is left behind. Dog welfare always comes first.
It’s structured. It’s social. And it’s genuinely enjoyable.
**Event & Competition Preparation**
If you’d like to build towards races or organized events, we support that too with our coach-led canicross sessions. We work on endurance, pacing, technical refinement, and race-day readiness - helping you feel prepared and confident when it matters.
We also have access to specialist training terrain that challenges every aspect of performance - varied surfaces, elevation changes, technical turns, and controlled environments that allow us to safely build real-world skill and resilience.
Full facilities, responsible planning, and careful progression ensure both you and your dog are supported throughout.
Ambition is welcome here. So is encouragement.
**Special Sessions & Partnerships**
We are also developing tailored sessions for specific audiences, working alongside local partners and health professionals who understand the physical and mental benefits of structured, dog-led running.
From supported progression to referral pathways and small-group focused coaching, everything remains safe, responsible, and dog-welfare led.
Because however you choose to train - this is about more than running. It’s about growth. Confidence. Belonging.
Canicross Norfolk is designed for active dog owners who want to run safely, confidently, and with support alongside their dogs.
It’s perfect for you if:
• You seek structured guidance rather than guesswork
• You prioritize your dog’s welfare and long-term development
• You enjoy engaging in coach-led canicross training within a welcoming, supportive environment
• You’re eager to learn and develop skills step by step
• You value community as much as coaching
Beginners are absolutely welcome, as are improvers and competitive runners.
You don’t need to be fast.
You don’t need experience.
You just need curiosity and a willingness to learn.
What We Ask From Everyone
To ensure that sessions are safe and enjoyable for all dogs and runners, we ask that everyone:
• Uses appropriate canicross equipment
• Follows guidance around safety and progression
• Respects land access and agreed routes
• Prioritizes dog welfare at all times
We build things properly – and we build them together.
Canicross Norfolk is led by Meredith Wickham - a dedicated coach, runner, cyclist, and lifelong advocate for proper practices among active dog owners.
As a qualified Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Certified Canicross Coach, Meredith combines structured coaching with real trail experience to support those in the Norfolk dog training community. With her background in leadership and mentoring, she brings calm authority, clear progression, and genuine care to every session.
Meredith's journey into canicross was sparked by her own dog, Deefa, and a desire to strengthen the unique partnership between human and dog.
"Running with a dog is different. It demands awareness, communication, and responsibility - but it also brings something rare: shared rhythm, focus, and trust.”
Now based in Norfolk, Meredith is building a coach-led canicross community rooted in safety, progression, and connection.
